Michael Seid Appointed to NASAA Advisory Committee

MSA Worldwide congratulates Michael Seid on his appointment to the Advisory Committee to the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) Franchise and Business Opportunities Project Group. The twelve-member Advisory Committee works with federal and state regulators on franchising issues and assists in the training of state franchise examiners. Its purpose is “to provide the Franchise and Business Opportunity Project Group with advice, assistance, and recommendations on issues and developing trends in franchising and business opportunities.”

With Susan Grueneberg, Partner, Cozen O’Connor, Michael will conduct training at the Annual NASAA Franchise Training in January 2026, addressing “The Franchise Gray Zone: Coaching, Licensing & Consulting Models.”

Michael is Founder and Managing Director of MSA Worldwide. For over three decades Michael has worked with mature and emerging brands on a global basis to design, develop, and grow successful franchise and licensing systems. Michael consults on franchising and licensing including structuring and management of franchise systems; executive coaching; restructuring franchise offerings; as backup servicer in securitizations, mergers and acquisitions; and as consultant and expert in complex litigation in the U.S. and internationally. MSA has been acknowledged as the leading strategic and tactical advisory firm in franchising by the IFA and was awarded Best Franchise Consultancy three of the past four years by Global Franchise Magazine.

Michael was recently re-elected to the IFA Board of Directors, where he will have served over 19 years at the end of his current term. He is principal author of the IFA’s Statement of Guiding Principles, the widely accepted benchmark for ethical and effective franchising. Michael is a frequent speaker and educator at programs for the IFA, CFA, the ABA Forum on Franchising, as keynote at franchise system conferences, and has spoken at the Doha Economic Forum in Qatar.

Michael lectures at universities and law schools and has been Adjunct Professor at The Ohio State University. He is co-author of two bestselling books, Franchising for Dummies (with Dave Thomas, Founder of Wendy’s) and Franchise Management for Dummies (with Joyce Mazero, Partner, Polsinelli). He was inducted into the Franchise Media Update Hall of Fame (2012) and the Global Franchise Hall of Fame (2025).

In addition to his commercial work Michael is passionate about social franchising – applying business-format franchising to improve global health and economic development at the base of the economic pyramid. He is a CPA (inactive) and U.S. Army veteran (73C-SFC), committed to supporting franchising as a force for sustainable growth, opportunity, and positive global impact.
